FAQ – Pipeline Personnel CERTIFICATION

General - Fees

Is there any membership requirements to take a certification exam?
CERTIVICATION GmbH does not require membership in any other organization. Certification is open to all qualified candidates.
Do I need to submit a payment with my application?
Yes, applications will not be reviewed until the application fee is paid.
I have multiple certifications. Do I have to complete an application for each one?
Yes, you are required to submit an application for each certification.
I have multiple certifications. Do I have to repay the application fee?
Yes. An application fee must be paid for each certification except when applying to the Certified Pipeline Integrity Engineer certification.
What payment methods are available?
All payments must be made by either a Visa or MasterCard credit card. We do NOT accept American Express.
How long do I have to pay the exam-sitting fee after I am approved to take the certification exam?
You have thirty-(30) days to pay the exam-sitting fee from the date of your acceptance into the program. Failure to do so, the candidate will forfeit all fees paid.
How long do I have to take my exam after I have paid my examination fee?
Applicants who have paid their examination fee have one (1) year from their payment date. Failure to take the exam within that year will result in the applicant forfeiting all fees paid.

Exam Guidance

Are all the certification exams only offered in English?
Yes. Additionally, applicants should have a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 before attempting to take any of the Pipeline Integrity Certification exams.
How many questions are on an exam?
The Certified Pipeline Integrity Engineer certification exam has 100 multiple-choice questions. The eight-(8) individual competency certifications exam have 40 multiple-choice questions.
What forms of ID are acceptable must I have on the day of the exam?
Valid government-issued photo ID e.g. national ID card, passport, driving license
Do you offer Special Testing Accommodations?
CERTIVATION will provide reasonable and appropriate test accommodations to individuals with documented disabilities who demonstrate a need for test accommodations. Please refer to the candidate handbook on how to apply for Special Testing Accommodations.
What is a real-time remote invigilator?
At exam time, candidates are connected to a proctor supervisor over the internet, who will oversee their test. The connection will be via video, audio and remote screen. The proctor can see you, hear the sounds around you and see your computer screen. Everything is during the exam is recorded and, if required, can be reviewed later if any irregularities have been identified during the examination.
Can I bring my own reference materials or notes?
You are not allowed to refer to any books or materials through the exam. The only authorized items allowed for this exam are water / drinks and a calculator. No smart watches are allowed.
When will I get my score on the exam?
You will be notified the result of your exam, either pass or fail, immediately after submission of their exam. Results will be considered provisional until it is confirm no suspicious activity took place during the exam.
If I fail the exam, can I take it again?
If you fail the exam on your first attempt, you can re-take it two more times. Fees are associated with each attempt. Details can be found in the certification handbook.

Recertification

How long is my certification valid?
All certifications are valid for 5 years.
Why do I have to recertify?
Recertification is an essential part of an accredited certification process. Standards, technologies, methodologies, and regulations change with time, and the recertification requirement is designed to ensure certificants are keeping up to date with those changes. Recertification demonstrates a commitment to maintain competency.
